A trailer for the new thriller ‘Primetime’ was released by A24, showcasing Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, host of ‘To Catch a Predator.’ Directed by Lance Oppenheim, the film captures Hansen’s efforts to craft television history in the early 2000s.

‘To Catch a Predator’ was a popular series on Dateline NBC, featuring sting operations where adults attempting to meet minors for sexual purposes were confronted before arrest. In the trailer, Pattinson transforms into Hansen, delivering iconic lines from the host.

‘What would have happened if I wasn’t here,’ Pattinson says in the trailer. ‘You see how this looks, right? At the end of the day, a man must be held accountable for the decisions that he makes. The trailer struck a chord on social media. Fans praised Pattinson’s performance, predicting potential Oscar recognition for him, and considered the film a hit for A24.

Beyond Pattinson’s portrayal, some viewers questioned if the film addresses the controversy surrounding the end of ‘To Catch a Predator.’ The show concluded after a sting operation in Texas in 2006, involving Assistant District Attorney Bill Conradt, led to a tragic outcome. Conradt died by suicide as police arrived, an incident many believe contributed to the show’s cancellation in 2008.

Chris Hansen has claimed the series naturally concluded after its three-year run. Nevertheless, the Conradt case remains a pivotal moment in its history.
