The American League Championship Series will extend to at least six games as the Tampa Bay Rays leveled the series with the Cleveland Guardians, winning Game 4 by a score of 7-3. The game saw significant actions and swings in momentum at Progressive Field on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The Cleveland Guardians made an early impact when Chase DeLauter hit an RBI single in the first inning, bringing Steven Kwan home. However, their offensive efforts largely dwindled thereafter.
In the third inning, the Tampa Bay Rays fought back. Yandy Diaz hit a double, and Jonathan Aranda followed up by driving Diaz in, tying the game. The scoring didn’t stop there for the Rays.
During the sixth, Junior Caminero hit an RBI double with runners on first and second, pushing the Rays to a 2-1 lead. Although they had a chance to increase their advantage further, the opportunity slipped away.
Entering the seventh inning with runners on second and third and no outs, the Rays capitalized. Despite Diaz striking out, Aranda delivered, bringing in two runs and extending the Rays’ lead to 4-1. Aranda later scored due to a sacrifice fly.
The Guardians managed to reduce the gap in the bottom of the inning and brought the lead run to the plate but could not seize the moment fully.
In the ninth, Diaz widened the gap with a crucial two-out, two-run home run, creating a comfortable lead for All-Star closer Bryan Baker. Baker, undeterred by a leadoff single, secured the win with a double play and a strikeout of Angel Martinez.
The series has seen no team claim consecutive wins yet. Weather conditions led to a delay on Friday night, shifting Games 4 and 5 by a day. Game 6 remains set for Monday, with no more rest days planned. Game 5 will take place on Sunday at 5:08 p.m. ET.
