Recent NBA trade rumors link the Detroit Pistons to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Detroit, which took No. 1 contender status in the Eastern Conference with their top talent Cade Cunningham, failed to surpass the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. They looked on as the New York Knicks claimed this year’s championship.
According to Marc Stein’s Substack, the Pistons might play a role in a three-team deal for Antetokounmpo. This plan could also bring Tyler Herro to the Pistons and send Giannis to the Miami Heat, who have been part of speculation for weeks. Stein’s report doesn’t specify what Detroit would provide to the Bucks or Heat in this agreement.
The Miami Heat narrowly missed the postseason, losing to the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Play-In Tournament. During that game, Miami’s key player Bam Adebayo left early due to an injury from a controversial play involving LaMelo Ball.
If the trade occurs, it would benefit the Pistons, who depended greatly on Cunningham’s leadership, particularly in the playoffs. Herro could add scoring and shooting depth. Coupled with All-Star Jalen Duren’s presence in the paint, it opens up more offensive possibilities.
Last season, Tyler Herro ranked as Miami’s second-highest scorer behind Norman Powell, averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. His contribution was limited to 33 games due to injury. Recently, Five Reasons Sports reported Herro underwent a foot procedure. They noted it shouldn’t hinder his offseason schedule or delay the next training camp.
Fans eagerly await updates on the anticipated Giannis trade, a hot topic since before last season’s trade deadline. Despite rumors, Giannis stayed with the Bucks, who appear to be gearing up for a major rebuild.
