Nick Reiner entered a plea of not guilty following a grand jury’s murder indictment related to the stabbing deaths of his parents. The victims, actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner, were allegedly murdered on December 14, 2025, in their Brentwood home.
The indictment, which came into effect on July 20 and was disclosed on Wednesday, charges the 32-year-old with two murder counts. It also includes special circumstance allegations of committing multiple murders and lying in wait. Prosecutors claim Reiner used a knife in the attack.
“This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing,” stated Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “The indictment unsealed today also adds a special circumstance allegation that the defendant committed the murders by means of lying in wait. We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice.”
Reiner, pictured during his arraignment with Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene, is held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15. Conviction on these charges may result in life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty. As of now, prosecutors have not determined whether they will pursue the death penalty.
