A tragic incident unfolded near Mexico City, where a musician, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and their nanny were found shot to death. The incident occurred in a residential building located in the Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapán de Zaragoza. Authorities identified the victims as a 38-year-old music producer and composer, his 35-year-old wife, their young daughter, and a 21-year-old nanny. A 6-year-old boy was discovered unharmed at the scene, according to the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office.
Jonathan Meléndez, a member of the Mexican band Camilo Séptimo, was among the deceased. Reports revealed that some victims had been bound, with gunshot wounds inflicted to their heads, and another shot in the back. The incident is believed to have occurred on Tuesday, September 1, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
Authorities have detained two individuals, Diego Sebastián ‘N’ and Gerardo ‘N,’ in conjunction with the killings. The suspects allegedly exploited a trusted relationship with the victims to enter the residence. Omar García Harfuch, the secretary of security and citizen protection, confirmed the swift action of institutions in apprehending the suspects, emphasizing their commitment to delivering justice.
The musical band Camilo Séptimo expressed their sorrow through a public statement on Instagram, honoring Jonathan Meléndez’s memory and contributions. An official motive for the killings has not been released, but one suspect was described as an ‘associate’ of the music producer.
