Pro Bowl linebacker Micah Parsons is preparing to return to action in the upcoming NFL season. Last season, while playing for the Green Bay Packers, Parsons’ campaign ended abruptly due to a torn ACL he sustained against the Denver Broncos. This injury forced him to miss the remainder of the season, including his team’s NFL Playoffs game.
In that postseason match, the Chicago Bears, led by Caleb Williams, defeated the Packers. Parsons, unable to participate, watched as a spectator without influencing the game.
As a new NFL season approaches, the league is also releasing its latest top 100 players list. A promotional teaser for this list drew attention to Parsons’ one-word response, “Iceman.” This nickname refers to Williams. Parsons later explained that his comment was taken out of context.
An extended video clip showed Parsons commending Williams. He remarked, “Yeah, Iceman,” praising Williams’ achievements. “I can’t lie. The celly and everything is super great, like I won’t even lie to you,” Parsons noted. “He really sped his clock up. He wasn’t taking as many sacks. He felt confidence in his system.”
Parsons expressed support for others’ success, stating, “I always want to see people succeed, regardless of who they play for. Just don’t want to see you succeed against me.” Offering a warning, he added, “Where there’s ice, there’s also fire, and I’m the fire.” This reflects his competitive nature, particularly in the Bears-Packers rivalry.
Last season, Chicago had the upper hand with an overtime win in the regular season and a playoff victory against Green Bay, led by Williams. Parsons missed these games due to injury. Chicago finished the season 11-6, securing the NFC North title and No. 2 seed in the conference. Green Bay ended with a 9-7-1 record. Some believe the Packers’ injuries, including Jordan Love missing time, contributed to the Bears’ advantage and homefield benefit in the playoffs.
Parsons played in the first matchup last season, where Green Bay won 28-21, recording one tackle. His teammate, Kingsley Enagbare, got the only sack on Williams. The second regular-season game was a 22-16 overtime victory for the Bears, without Parsons.
Parsons aims to return by Week 5 or Week 6 this season, potentially playing in the 2026-27 campaign meetings between the rivals.
