LeBron James and 76ers to face Lakers in Christmas Day Matchup

1 hour ago 0

The NBA announced part of its regular-season schedule on Monday. The highlight includes the Christmas Day lineup, featuring LeBron James with his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers. James will take part in his 21st NBA Christmas Day game, setting a record.

The spotlight will be on the matchup against his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron played for the Lakers for eight years and contributed to the team’s NBA championship in 2020. Now, he joins the Philadelphia 76ers, boosting their chances as a formidable Eastern Conference contender. The 76ers have also acquired Jaylen Brown, a five-time All-Star and the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, from the Boston Celtics.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers present a refreshed starting lineup. They recently traded with the Utah Jazz for big man Walker Kessler, forming a strong trio alongside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. This comes as the team looks for new leadership with Doncic at the helm.

Reaves secured a substantial four-year, $180 million contract in July, ensuring his role as Doncic’s key partner. Kessler, now filling the center position, averaged 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game last season with the Utah Jazz, addressing a long-standing need for the Lakers.

The game between the 76ers and the Lakers is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET, part of five games on December 25. Festivities start with Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, tipping off at 12 p.m. ET.

Additional matchups include Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat playing the Boston Celtics at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Oklahoma City Thunder will challenge the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET, and the Denver Nuggets will face the Golden State Warriors at 10:30 p.m. ET. All games will air on ABC and ESPN, providing basketball fans a day full of NBA excitement.
