The Kansas City Chiefs are experiencing great success with the addition of running back Kenneth Walker III in the first four games of the 2026 NFL season.
Walker currently leads the league in rushing with an impressive 537 yards. This achievement surpasses the rushing performances of notable players like Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson, Buffalo’s James Cook, Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, and Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor. Walker, who is also the Super Bowl MVP, adds to his resume with four rushing touchdowns and 12 receptions for 84 yards, including two scores from the air.
These 537 rushing yards mark the highest total in the opening four games of an NFL season over the last 15 years. The previous record during this period was set by DeMarco Murray, who ran for 534 yards and is now the Chiefs’ running backs coach. The Chiefs acknowledged Walkers’ record-breaking achievement on social media, humorously noting, “Nothin’ like breaking your own coach’s record.”
Thanks to Walker’s outstanding performance, the Chiefs have secured a 4-0 record to kick off the 2026 season. After a victory against their divisional rival, the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City heads into their Week 5 bye with strong momentum.
The Chiefs are set to return to action in Week 6, where they will face the Los Angeles Chargers.
