Juror in Lindsay Clancy Case Retains High-Profile Lawyer

The lone juror, whose decision led to a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case, has hired an attorney previously associated with former President Donald Trump. This move suggests the juror is prepared to assert his stance, as indicated by a legal scholar observing the case.

Lindsay Clancy, aged 36, faced charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. The children were found strangled at the family’s home in January 2023. Judge William Sullivan announced a mistrial on September 4 due to the jury’s inability to reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in an 11-1 split.

Attorney Edward Paltzik confirmed on Friday that he is representing the holdout juror Michael P. Desronvil.

“I didn’t have any doubts. As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence present,” Desronvil stated. “Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and the prosecution’s presentation, I thought there was enough proof that she knew exactly what she was doing and planned.”

Paltzik’s legal background includes representing Trump in a lawsuit against The New York Times over alleged misrepresentation of his business success. Though dismissed initially, the lawsuit has been refiled. Additionally, Paltzik was involved in Trump’s lawsuit against CBS for alleged selective editing in an interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Paramount Global settled the CBS case for $16 million.

Paltzik also represented Trump in a lawsuit against ABC News that was settled for $15 million, with funds allocated to his future presidential library.

In another high-profile case, Paltzik represents three friends of Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old who went missing during a boat trip to Horn Island off Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. After social media allegations against Wells’s friends, Paltzik has been working to clear their reputations.

“We are proud to stand with and fight for three completely innocent young men: Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo, and Morgan Seymour,” expressed Paltzik. “Starting today, those who continue trafficking in lies about these Good Ocean Springs People will be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law.”

Paltzik clarified that Desronvil will not engage in further media interviews for now, labeling him an “American Hero” and “Champion of Justice.” He emphasized focusing on Desronvil’s health, safety, and well-being, stating that accountability and the full story of the Lindsay Clancy trial will come later.

Meanwhile, Plymouth County prosecutors are deciding whether to retry Clancy, while her defense team considers resolving the case without another trial.

Legal expert Mark Astor believes Desronvil obtained legal counsel to defend his name and reputation, amid criticism received following the mistrial declaration.

Astor noted the risks of exposure for jurors, highlighting the importance of the jury system in ensuring people are willing to serve.

Lindsay Clancy is scheduled for a court appearance on September 29, which may shed more light on the case’s progression.
