Juan Soto’s Injury Adds to New York Mets’ Challenges

1 week ago 0

The New York Mets face new challenges on the injury front as star player Juan Soto left the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday evening. The Dodgers, fresh off a visit to the White House, arrived to play at the Mets’ ballpark. Alongside the action was actress Emma Stone, who was on location filming and chatted with Soto before the game.

The evening seemed promising with Soto drawing two walks. However, the optimism waned when Soto had to exit in the sixth inning due to a calf injury. This injury has troubled him since July 16 and the team previously gave him time off to recover earlier in the week.

Interim manager Andy Green had expressed hope for Soto’s improvement. Speaking to MLB.com, he mentioned, “It’s improving for him. Hopefully after today, we don’t have to talk about it anymore.” Nevertheless, the concern persists, leaving Mets fans to process the continuing injury issues affecting their season.

Soto’s absence is significant for the Mets as he is their only All-Star this year. His performance includes a .283 batting average, 83 hits, and 21 home runs over 84 games. Soto is under a substantial contract with the Mets, valued at 15 years and $765 million, signed in December 2024.
