Joy Behar created a stir on ‘The View’ with a surprising kiss on actor Anson Mount. During Wednesday’s show, as Whoopi Goldberg introduced Mount, he approached the table to greet the hosts. Behar unexpectedly kissed him on the lips, causing laughter among the co-hosts.
After the moment, Behar commented, “You know something? I’m old, but I’m not dead.” Anson Mount replied humorously, “That’s good, Joy, because I am.” The interaction was lighthearted, recalling Mount’s previous visit when he gave Behar flowers for her birthday.
On the ‘Behind the Table’ podcast, Behar recalled hearing about Mount and joking before his appearance. “And then when he came out I just felt like kissing him,” she said. Her husband reportedly texted her during the show, humorously telling her to “Cut that out.”
Mount also discussed his role in ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’, sharing his childhood fascination with make-believe games and his surprise at landing the role of a captain.
In another segment, the co-hosts talked about a Capitol Hill hearing on the Smithsonian Institution. Sunny Hostin argued that Republicans targeted the Smithsonian to avoid paying reparations to Black Americans. She stated this reflects efforts to reshape the nation’s history to avoid accountability for past injustices.
Hostin emphasized the lack of ‘truth and reconciliation commissions’ concerning slavery in the U.S. She mentioned similar processes for Japanese Americans, Holocaust victims, and Native Americans. Without acknowledging the truth, she argued, true reconciliation and financial repair can’t happen.
