Jay-Z has been selected to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The rapper, who has received 25 Grammy Awards, chose himself for the performance. He was reportedly selected over other finalists such as Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, as mentioned by Puck News. TMZ also noted that Harry Styles was a frontrunner.

Jay-Z and his company, Roc Nation, have been organizing the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019. The 56-year-old artist’s recent activities include attending the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group E match between Cote D’Ivoire and Ecuador in Philadelphia.

Currently, Jay-Z is concluding his four-city tour with two shows at SoFi Stadium on October 23 and 24. This tour commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album, ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ The tour has been commercially prosperous, with a reported $42 million earned from three shows at Yankee Stadium in July, as reported by Puck.

Although Jay-Z has never performed at the Super Bowl, his wife, Beyoncé, headlined in 2013 and appeared in 2016 with Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Jay-Z’s last album, ‘4:44,’ was released in June 2017. He recently re-released his 2000 single, ‘I Just Wanna Love U.’

Jay-Z, who was the first rapper in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has 50.6 million Spotify listeners monthly, placing him as the 71st most-listened-to artist.

Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14.
