Japan’s Resounding Victory Moves Them Closer to World Cup Knockout Stages

Japan delivered a commanding performance in their World Cup Group F match against Tunisia, triumphing 4-0. This victory brings Japan closer to qualifying for the knockout stages for the fourth consecutive time.

The Samurai Blue achieved their highest goal tally in a World Cup match, easily overcoming a Tunisia team that recently replaced its coach after an initial defeat. Ayase Ueda was a standout, scoring twice, while Daichi Kamada and Junya Itō each added a goal.

Ayase Ueda, supported by Quicker play, initiated the scoring in the fourth minute, registering Japan’s quickest World Cup goal ever. Kamada capitalized on Keito Nakamura’s precise cross, barely needing to move to secure his second goal of the tournament.

In the 31st minute, Ueda showcased his skill from the midfield, unleashing an angled shot that found its mark in the left corner, raising the score to 2-0. His club success is proven, having scored 24 goals for Feyenoord.

Further extending Japan’s lead in the 69th minute, Itō succeeded in a one-on-one opportunity with Tunisia’s goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen, finishing with composure following Ueda’s assist.

Completing his outstanding night, Ueda scored again with a looping header in the 83rd minute to finalize the 4-0 victory. Japan’s record against European teams remains strong, with no losses within regular time since 2019.
