Jake Lang, identified as a far-right influencer and previously involved in the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021, is again facing legal trouble. Lang, 31, was apprehended in Dallas, Texas. The arrest is based on a charge of making terroristic threats, classified as a third-degree felony.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that Lang was detained after he got off a flight in Dallas. Photographs and videos positioned him near the Collin County courthouse during the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony. This trial centered on the killing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, who died from a stabbing at a Frisco track meet in April 2025. Anthony was found guilty by a jury and received a 35-year prison sentence.
According to CBS News, Anthony’s family accused Lang of threatening to shoot Anthony if he wasn’t convicted. Lang was seen holding a sign that read “White Lives Matter” with Austin Metcalf’s image outside the courthouse.
“They’ve arrested me for a felony, what’s called terroristic threats, simply because I said that if the jury did not find Karmelo Anthony guilty, that we the people will deal with justice,” Lang claimed in a video uploaded to his X account, allegedly from Dallas County Jail.
Following his arrest, Lang informed his social media audience that his bail was set at $1 million. CBS News has not yet succeeded in contacting Lang’s legal team for comments. Lang’s recent legal issues come on the heels of other encounters with the law, including a trespassing charge in Frisco and vandalism charges in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lang’s involvement in the Capitol riot previously subjected him to 11 federal charges, such as assault on an officer before his subsequent pardon by President Trump.
In response to recent developments, Andrew Anthony, Karmelo’s father, told CBS News he felt somewhat relieved by Lang’s arrest, yet emphasized that continued threats toward his family present ongoing concerns. Despite the guilty verdict, the Anthony family insists on Karmelo’s self-defense argument, saying he declined to testify during the proceedings.
The trial has attracted significant attention, drawing crowds both in support of and against Karmelo Anthony. Lang, who orchestrated protests backing Metcalf, earlier circulated a flyer promoting “Protect White Americans.” Metcalf’s father, Jeff, has urged not to misuse his son’s death for furthering racial tensions, extending forgiveness to Anthony in light of the trial’s outcome.
