Indiana’s college football team extended its longest active winning streak by narrowly defeating Nebraska 20-17 at Memorial Stadium. The team faced a serious challenge but managed to secure victory with a resilient fourth-quarter comeback.
Game Highlights
Indiana had not trailed in any game since their matchup with Ohio State in the 2025 Big Ten Championship. They remained undefeated against unranked teams, maintaining a streak of 27 consecutive wins since 2023.
Quarterback Josh Hoover led Indiana with 263 yards and two touchdowns, connecting superbly with wide receiver Nick Marsh, who made six catches for 187 yards. Despite a slow start, Indiana delivered when it mattered in the final minutes.
“We faced a tough team today, but our players showed determination,” noted Coach Curt Cignetti, who improved his record to 33-2 as the team’s head coach.
First Half Struggles
Early in the game, Nebraska put pressure on Indiana. The Huskers opened scoring with a 28-yard field goal, followed by Nyziah Hunter’s 10-yard touchdown, giving them a 10-3 lead. Indiana’s only points in the first half came from a 42-yard field goal by Nico Radicic.
Nebraska controlled the first half. They maintained possession for over 22 minutes and had a chance to extend the lead, but Kyle Cunanan missed a 40-yard field goal.
Second Half Comeback
In the second half, Indiana’s defense began to alter the game’s momentum. Jamari Sharpe made a crucial interception deep in Indiana territory, preventing Nebraska from scoring further.
Nebraska extended the lead to 17-6 in the fourth quarter with Anthony Colandrea’s impressive 39-yard touchdown run. However, Indiana immediately responded as Hoover connected with Marsh for a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Securing the Win
Indiana took its first lead when Hoover and Marsh combined again for a 44-yard touchdown. Despite Nebraska’s aggressive attempts, including a failed fourth-down conversion, Indiana held firm. The Hoosiers’ defense sacked Colandrea on Nebraska’s final possession, sealing the victory.
Nebraska now stands at 5-1 after this closely contested game. Their next opponent is No. 13 Oregon. Meanwhile, Indiana prepares for another significant challenge against No. 5 Ohio State.
