A suspect accused of shooting the mother of his child in Georgia was apprehended Tuesday after a 10-hour search. Darian Berry Sr., aged 46, was captured with the help of a bloodhound, according to the Butts County Sheriff’s Office. He is a convicted felon and faces numerous charges.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning in Flovilla, around 50 miles south of Atlanta. Authorities reported that Berry fled the scene on foot, triggering an extensive search effort.
Butts County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the determination of law enforcement and the bloodhound’s tracking skills in their successful capture. Berry had allegedly tried to confine his victim, with charges including arson and stalking.
Upon deputies’ arrival at the scene, Berry allegedly fled while armed, leading to a BOLO alert for him within the community. Officers utilized the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit bloodhound to track and locate Berry, capturing him by the evening.
Berry faces multiple charges, which include aggravated assault, stalking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, obstruction, two counts of arson, battery, family violence, and false imprisonment.
