In Florida, authorities apprehended a man accused of kidnapping a teenage girl and concealing her inside a clothes dryer at his residence in Key Largo.

Charges and Arrest

Christopher Michael Veit, aged 53, faces several charges. These include kidnapping, false imprisonment, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is handling the case.

Incident Details

The authorities arrived at the residence on Miramar Drive around 11:45 a.m. Sunday. The teenage victim had reached out to 911, claiming she was held captive. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered her hidden in a dryer.

The FBI had previously rescued another missing teen from a Florida hotel following a month-long search for a kidnapper.

Veit’s charges also extend to interference with child custody. It’s alleged he restrained the victim before placing her in the dryer. He reportedly confiscated her cellphone when she expressed a desire to leave.

The sheriff’s office stated the victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Details of the Relationship

The authorities did not specify the connection between Veit and the teenage girl, who is not from Key Largo. Nonetheless, investigators found evidence of an ongoing sexual relationship.

After being assessed at a local hospital, the victim was released to a family member’s care.

Ongoing Investigation

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to investigate the matter. They noted that further charges might arise in the future.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was informed following the event. Detectives gathered evidence at the scene, including counterfeit currency sheets.

The discovery prompted notification to the U.S. Secret Service.

The investigation remains active, and authorities anticipate additional charges.
