Among those mourning Parton’s death is Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, who shares a Tennessee connection with the star. Manning expressed his admiration and fond memories of Parton, emphasizing her unique presence and the void she leaves behind.
“There was only one Dolly and I feel lucky to have known her,” wrote Manning in an Instagram post, as he recalled walking alongside Parton at a University of Tennessee game.
Manning posted a picture capturing one of Parton’s iconic performances where she delivered the Vols’ signature “Rocky Top” song on November 18, 2023. Despite the loud stadium, Parton delivered an unforgettable performance that resonated deeply.
Parton’s involvement in sports events, like her Knoxville appearance, extended to Dallas. At 77, she stunned audiences at AT&T Stadium with a Thanksgiving halftime show, donning a custom Cowboys cheerleader outfit and singing hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5.” Her performance drew rave reviews, displaying her unyielding spirit and passion.
In a press release obtained by Fox News Digital, it was confirmed Parton passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee. Her nephew, Brin Seaver, also announced the news via Instagram, following her undisclosed health challenges.
Beyond music, Parton embraced multiple roles, including actress, philanthropist, businesswoman, and humanitarian. Her illustrious career boasts 11 Grammy Awards, three Emmys, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, multiple Golden Globe nominations, a Tony nod, and two Academy Award nominations.
Parton shared nearly 60 years of marriage with Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025. Their relationship largely remained private, underscoring her humble origins and grounded nature.
In accordance with Parton’s wishes, a small private service for immediate family will be conducted. Contributions to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
