Dolly Parton’s enduring influence will be commemorated with a festival called Dollyfest, planned to occur across Nashville and London in 2027. The estate of Parton, who recently passed away at the age of 80 due to cancer, revealed this news.
Originally set to happen in January 2026 to coincide with her 80th birthday, the event intended to feature Parton as both a performer and host. Now, it will focus on celebrating her remarkable legacy.
“We had the venue booked and the announcement prepared,” stated Danny Nozell, founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises, in a press release on Monday. “However, Dolly had to step back in August 2025 after facing health challenges. Many ask, WWDD (What Would Dolly Do?), and Dollyfest epitomizes WDWD (What Dolly Would Do!).”
Nozell clarified that while personal tributes are welcomed, a conventional memorial does not align with Parton’s wishes. Instead, they aim to let natural tributes unfold and then realize the festival-style concept envisioned by Parton.
A private service attended by family members took place on Friday, adhering to Parton’s wishes against a public ceremony, as confirmed by the Associated Press.
On social media, Parton’s great-niece, Lainey Parton, wrote a heartfelt tribute, saying, “This is a really hard post for me to make. I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before trying to put any of this into words. She had a way of making me feel like I was enough, never belittling my dreams.”
Details about tickets and specific dates for Dollyfest are yet to be released.
