Julian Lewis, the quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, is in recovery following a medical emergency, as announced by his father. The incident occurred at the Buffaloes’ facility, leading to Lewis’s swift transport to a hospital. The exact nature of the emergency remains undisclosed.
Lewis’s father expressed gratitude on social media, saying, “He is recovering and thankful to his medical team, teammates, and Colorado fans for their prayers and support.” He asked for privacy, stating no further information would be released.
The Colorado Athletics Department affirmed their support for Lewis and his family. “JuJu remains in the thoughts of every CU player, coach, and staff member. We will assist in his full recovery in any way possible,” the statement read. The team’s primary focus is Lewis’s health and well-being.
Lewis, a 19-year-old sophomore, started the season as Colorado’s quarterback but was benched by head coach Deion Sanders after four games. His last game was on September 26 against the Baylor Bears. Junior Isaac Wilson has since taken over, but the Buffaloes have not improved, suffering three consecutive losses and holding a 2-5 record.
Before the medical incident, Sanders was questioned about Lewis possibly returning as a starter. Sanders responded, emphasizing fairness and stating, “I don’t treat people unfairly. We may know more than you do because we’re inside the locker room.”
This season, Lewis has achieved 733 passing yards, completed six touchdowns, and thrown two interceptions across four starts.
