Chicago Bears Face Uncertainty After Caleb Williams’ Injury

10 minutes ago 0

The Chicago Bears are dealing with a major setback as their star quarterback, Caleb Williams, suffered an injury during a game against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams had to be helped off the field by two trainers after grabbing his right hamstring while trying to evade a tackle from Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel. He appeared in considerable pain before being taken to the team’s medical tent and later to the locker room for further examination.

Williams’ injury is diagnosed as a hamstring issue, and he did not return to the game. His absence was felt in the Bears’ loss to the Vikings, putting the team’s season ambitions on hold. At Soldier Field, Williams managed a thumbs up to reassure fans before leaving the field.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson expressed concern, stating the team would know more after an MRI determines the severity of Williams’ injury. A minor strain could mean a 1–3 week absence, but a torn hamstring might require 3–6 months for recovery, potentially jeopardizing a significant portion of the season.

Following Williams’ exit, backup quarterback Tyson Bagent stepped in. However, the Bears could not overcome the Vikings, resulting in a disappointing outcome. The season had started promisingly under Williams’ leadership, coming off an 11–6 record in 2025, an NFC North title, and a historic playoff appearance. Williams also set a team record with 3,942 passing yards and 31 total touchdowns.

This year’s opener saw Williams carrying forward his remarkable form, recording 269 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 65 rushing yards for two additional scores in a victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Coach Johnson commented on the situation, “I’m happy it’s not a knee injury. That was my initial fear. However, a hamstring injury still poses significant challenges. We’ll see the extent of it soon.” Williams’ performance continues to be crucial for the Bears as they aim to maintain momentum in the ongoing season.
