A massive brawl erupted at a popular hangout on the Congaree River in South Carolina, leading to chaos and multiple arrests. The incident occurred on June 6 at the 601 Sand Bar in Calhoun County. Videos from the scene show numerous fights breaking out, with bystanders gathering to watch and record the events.
Several people can be seen exchanging punches, while others attempt to intervene. The confrontation in the knee-deep water resulted in six arrests and an ongoing investigation by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The injuries were severe,Sheriff Thomas Summers stated, emphasizing the intensity of the fight.
Investigators reported that more than 20 individuals were involved, with at least three sustaining injuries. These injuries ranged from swollen eyes to head trauma. Although the cause of the violence remains unclear, alcohol and underage drinking were noted as factors.
The incident took place during the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run, an event attracting boaters and outdoor enthusiasts to the river. Sheriff Summers expressed concerns about the dangers of mixing water activities with alcohol, warning that such environments could pose risks to families.
Authorities arrested six individuals: Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell, and Taylor Knudson. They face various charges related to assault and breach of peace. The sheriff’s office is reviewing public-submitted video and information, with further arrests anticipated.
