Rep. Thomas Massie lost the Republican primary in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District to Ed Gallrein, who was backed by former President Donald Trump. Despite the defeat, Massie is considering the possibility of running for office again.
Massie announced on X that he filed with the FEC for the 2028 House race, which allows him to fundraise for political operations. He remains undecided on the specific office he might pursue.
During a College Republicans event at the University of Louisville, Massie stated he would not engage in government work if he lost the May 19 election. However, in a statement to Fox News Digital, Massie expressed that he is keeping all options open and criticized certain undisclosed efforts aimed at undermining his political platform.
Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL, won the GOP primary, defeating Massie, who has served in Congress since late 2012. Massie, in his concession speech, emphasized that he does not believe his loss was due to fraud or errors in the voting process.
Massie also addressed speculation about a possible presidential run in 2028. In an interview on “Meet the Press,” he mentioned his interest in staying politically active, either from within or outside the system, highlighting his past efforts to reveal activities in Washington D.C.
Massie’s future in politics remains uncertain but he continues to evaluate his options moving forward.
