LeBron James Joins 76ers for a New NBA Season

Fans at Madison Square Garden eagerly await the New York Knicks as they aim to lift their first NBA title banner in 53 years. Meanwhile, a notable group is also thrilled for the Philadelphia 76ers’ new season. LeBron James, the league’s all-time leading scorer, joins the team for the 2026-27 season. Expectations run high in Philadelphia, just like in New York, especially with James teaming up with Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and V.J. Edgecombe. This combination of talent positions them to make a strong impression in the Eastern Conference.

Though the Knicks, as reigning champions, remain the dominant force in the East, the 76ers emerge as strong contenders. James’ presence adds significant star power, raising hopes of a stellar performance.

“LeBron in Philly is the kind of storyline the league thrives on,” Carmelo Anthony remarked, while discussing his involvement in DraftKings’ new NBA season campaign.

James, at 42, faces questions about his role and regular-season availability. Yet, his versatility has allowed him to adapt, whether leading as a scorer or facilitating plays. With five strong scorers starting Tuesday in Manhattan, the potential of a fully healthy 76ers team is compelling.

Many speculate James is gearing up for a final NBA title push. This veteran team, in James’ view, is ready to make that endeavor. Anthony commented on James’ challenge in leading this team and sharing his basketball wisdom with younger players like V.J. Edgecombe.

In partnership with DraftKings, Anthony expresses enthusiasm for their campaign with Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas. DraftKings’ expansion across all 50 states brings more engagement with basketball and other sports.

“We got a great campaign, man,” Anthony said. He appreciated the collaboration with Hart and Jonas, noting it expands nationwide fun with DraftKings.
