Ana Navarro Declines Meeting with Trump on ‘The View’

On a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Ana Navarro declared her firm refusal to meet with President Donald Trump. During the ABC daytime show’s discussion, the co-hosts covered Trump’s dinner at the White House with comedian Bill Maher, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, and musician Kid Rock. This sparked a conversation on whether each co-host would accept a dinner invitation from Trump.

Co-host Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin, who has previously worked for Trump, considered accepting such invitations. In contrast, Navarro stated, “Hell to the no.” She emphasized her disinterest in sharing a meal with Trump due to his administration’s treatment of Latinos. Navarro asserted, “There is no way in hell I would want to break bread or be in the same room with a man whose administration is hunting Latinos.”

Navarro argued that meeting Trump would not alter his administration’s actions. She cited polling data showing declining Latino support for Trump and described his administration’s measures as “cruel.” Navarro said, “They are killing Latinos, chasing them, hunting them, racially profiling them, torturing them, sending them to places in far-off Africa. You think I’m going to go share a meal with him?”

Haines noted Navarro’s past interactions with other Republican figures, such as Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., but Navarro contended other methods exist to confront political leaders. She remarked, “You know who’s going to hold him accountable? The people who are going to vote in the midterm elections.”

Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg supported Navarro, rejecting the need for a meeting with Trump. Hostin labeled Trump “the criminal-in-chief,” doubting his openness to dialogue and criticizing his impact on various communities. Goldberg said, “I cannot, in good conscience, try to reason with someone who has decided that I’m barely human.”

Despite this, co-host Joy Behar expressed a different stance in a New York Magazine interview. Behar stated her interest in having Trump appear on the show for a rigorous examination.

Separately, Kid Rock reflected positively on his experience dining with Trump, Maher, and Smith in an interview on “Fox & Friends.” He lauded the diverse political discourse, saying, “It was epic,” and noted the constructive dialogue between the group.
