Christina Applegate, known for her role in “Married… with Children,” has disclosed a significant update regarding her health. Originally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021, the actress recently learned she had been misdiagnosed. Currently, Applegate has no definitive answers about her medical condition.

Speaking on her “MeSsY” podcast with co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate expressed her frustration with the ongoing uncertainty about her health. “I’m back at square one that I don’t know what’s going on with me,” said Applegate.

The Podcast Journey

Applegate and Sigler initiated their podcast in March 2024, focusing primarily on topics related to MS as both shared experiences of living with the disease. Originally, Applegate’s diagnosis aligned with Sigler’s, identifying damages to the protective coverings of nerves. However, Applegate’s recent doctor visit overturned this diagnosis with a surprising message: “Congratulations. You don’t have MS.”

While this revelation might sound positive, Applegate shared her mixed emotions about the news, explaining, “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of a sudden I’m better, right?” She noted her health has not improved and, in some aspects, has worsened.

Ongoing Health Concerns

Despite the lack of a concrete diagnosis, Applegate continues experiencing symptoms typical of MS. Her situation has left her feeling a disconnection from supporters who identified with her previous diagnosis. Additionally, her role as an MS activist has become uncertain due to the unclear situation surrounding her health.

“I don’t have a reason and it’s very unnerving and it’s very confusing for me,” Applegate expressed. Her uncertainty has impacted her sense of purpose, an issue compounded by concerns over disappointing those who supported her journey.

Reflecting on Life and Health

Last month, Applegate shared a video showing her in good spirits, following a hospital stay that lasted four months. Despite this positive moment, she revealed thoughts of mortality have been on her mind. Applegate shared an intimate detail, mentioning, “I bought my plots already, OK?” during an NPR interview.

Applegate continues navigating her health challenges, searching for answers about her condition. Her journey remains a source of inspiration and reflection for many.
