The WNBA announced a record-breaking 2026 season with a significant increase in television viewership and attendance. The league touted various achievements, prominently featuring Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Caitlin Clark’s Impact on Television Ratings

Across multiple networks, the Indiana Fever, with Clark in the spotlight, consistently attracted substantial audiences. On platforms like ABC, CBS, ESPN, and more, games involving Clark and the Fever emerged as the most-watched during the regular season.

The Fever’s matches generated the largest viewership across seven broadcast platforms. ABC’s marquee game showcased the Fever, driving high engagement across CBS, ESPN, ION, NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and Amazon Prime Video.

Caitlin Clark’s lowest-rated playoff game outperformed every non-Fever first-round broadcast.

With network-by-network figures, the WNBA illustrated why broadcasters should prioritize Clark-focused games in their schedules. Clark’s presence guarantees strong viewer engagement, making her games a lucrative opportunity for advertising sales.

League-Wide Growth and Prospects

In 2026, 51 regular-season broadcasts achieved over one million viewers, markedly higher than the 19 from the prior year. Nine broadcasts surpassed the two million mark, up from four in 2025. Clark’s influence and appeal have played a notable role in these numbers.

Before Clark’s debut in 2024, ESPN’s networks reported an average of 440,000 viewers for WNBA games. Her rookie season saw a dramatic rise, with averages reaching 1.2 million, a 170% increase.
