Allegations Against U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle: A Detailed Account

2 hours ago 0

Businessman Eric Deters has stirred controversy by accusing Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece and former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., of unethical conduct. He claims Guilfoyle solicited him to wire $100,000 to cover her American Express bill in return for assistance within the Trump administration. The allegations arose ahead of Guilfoyle’s Senate confirmation hearing.

Deters’ Assertions

In a CBS News interview, Deters asserted that Guilfoyle should “lose her ambassadorship” due to this behavior, made evident by their text exchanges reported by the Wall Street Journal. He described the situation as “quid pro quo” and stated that he never transferred the money. “I didn’t have $100,000 to spare,” Deters explained, claiming he made an excuse involving his wife to avoid the payment.

Confirmation of Messages

White House officials reportedly have been informed of the authenticity of the texts between Guilfoyle and Deters, as sources indicated to CBS News. Within the texts dated July 3, 2025, just days before her congressional hearing, Guilfoyle allegedly pushed for a discreet transaction to settle her debt, emphasizing confidentiality in her messages.

Background and Motives

Deters is a retired lawyer and businessman with a history of supporting Trump. Notably, he has campaigned for media and political backing in extraditing Dr. Abubakar Durrani. Durrani is an orthopedic spine surgeon accused of healthcare fraud, currently outside the U.S.

In efforts to bring Durrani to justice, Deters reached out to prominent Trump figures but received no support, leading to his public allegations. He claims that securing Durrani’s return could result in financial benefits, evidenced in his proposals to Trump Jr. and associates.

Guilfoyle’s Alleged Response

Deters claimed that, despite her influential position, Guilfoyle faced diminishing sway post-breakup with Trump Jr. He cited her insistence on using secure communication channels like Signal, implying awareness of the impropriety of her requests. Guilfoyle allegedly rebuked Deters in private messages for documenting sensitive matters.

Financial Dealings and Accusations

Deters provided that he paid substantial amounts to Guilfoyle and Trump affiliates for appearances and consulting services. Nonetheless, he denied owing her any debts based on unfulfilled commitments.

Official Response

In Greece, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed the controversy when questioned by reporters, prioritizing evidence and official processes over press accounts. Vice President JD Vance, when queried, expressed disapproval of hypothetical situations of government officials soliciting funds. Deters remains intent on spotlighting the alleged misconduct, focusing on bringing attention to Durrani’s victims and seeking Guilfoyle’s removal.

Deters concluded, “I’m going to get to take Kimberly Guilfoyle’s deposition,” signaling ongoing legal actions. The situation continues to unfold, with significant implications for the involved parties.
