Olivia Miles Emerges as Star Player for Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx have consistently demonstrated their ability in the WNBA Draft to select players who enhance their team. Olivia Miles was their choice this year, and her impact has been immediate and significant.

Drafted as the No. 2 overall pick, Olivia Miles, a native of New Jersey, has flourished on the court. In a recent game, the Lynx clinched a 101-89 victory over the Connecticut Sun, with Miles establishing a new rookie scoring record previously held by Caitlin Clark.

Miles stated, “It’s special, but it means we’re more so working well as a team. I have great teammates around me, great vets who allow me to be me out there. It wouldn’t be possible without one, a coach that believes in you and then two, having teammates that have my back. So it’s really special to obviously be able to accomplish that with such a great team and on a win as well.”

Throughout the season, Miles has scored 790 points across 40 games. Despite the WNBA’s expanded schedule for 2026, both Miles and Clark reached their records within 40 games. Clark, playing for the Indiana Fever, earned 769 points in her first season.

This year, Miles broke additional rookie records set by Clark. She scored eight 3-pointers in June against the Golden State Valkyries, setting the record for most 3-pointers by a rookie in a single game.

Furthermore, Olivia Miles became the fastest rookie to accumulate 350 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists, achieving this in just 21 games—one game faster than Clark and Andrea Stinson, former Chicago Sting guard.

The Minnesota Lynx boast a 32-10 record for the season, leading the league standings by one game over the Golden State Valkyries.
