Graham Rahal Prepares for the Freedom Grand Prix in D.C.

Graham Rahal is set to join around two dozen drivers racing through Washington, D.C., on Sunday during the Freedom Grand Prix 250. This event coincides with the U.S. celebrating its 250th anniversary. Rahal spoke about his excitement at the IndyCar Grand Prix Media Preview held on Thursday.

‘An Iconic Moment’

Speaking about the occasion, Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing expressed his enthusiasm. He described racing in the U.S. capital as an iconic moment for an American driver. Racing in front of Capitol Hill and along Pennsylvania Avenue holds special significance for Rahal.

Rahal highlighted that the sport has an international flavor but racing in such a historic location, adorned in the red, white, and blue, is deeply meaningful to him. He acknowledged the presence of friends, supporters, and military personnel who add to the event’s importance.

Anticipation Builds

Rahal shared his eagerness to hit the track, noting his efforts to contain his excitement. The first practice session is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 a.m. ET. Subsequent practice and qualifying sessions follow later in the day. FS1 will televise the initial practice, while FS2 covers later events.

Sunday’s race begins with warm-ups at 9 a.m. ET, covered by FS1. The main event is slated for 1 p.m. ET, broadcast on FOX. The track runs down Pennsylvania Avenue, with preparations in full swing for this inaugural street race marking America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
