2 minutes ago 0

First Lady Melania Trump has introduced a $2 million scholarship initiative through her Fostering the Future program. This effort forms part of a strategic collaboration involving Fox Corporation and IndyCar, aimed at enhancing academic opportunities for individuals transitioning from foster care. Fox Corporation is contributing $1 million, with IndyCar matching this amount, to fund scholarships specifically at Indiana University and Purdue University for young adults who have experienced the foster care system.

The announcement took place at the White House, preceding the inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. This event, scheduled for the weekend, underscores the link between education and sports.

The greatest achievement America can make is not in technology, infrastructure, or capital markets. It’s our children, Melania Trump stated during the event.

Present were President Donald Trump, Melania Trump, FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks, Penske Corporation chairman Roger Penske, IndyCar president Doug Boles, Indiana University president Dr. Pamela Whitten, Purdue University vice provost Cherise Hall, as well as IndyCar drivers and young individuals from foster backgrounds.

Eric Shanks emphasized Fox Sports’ commitment to investing in the future of America, highlighting the partner initiative with Melania Trump’s cause. Fox Sports attendees included Jamie Little, Will Buxton, James Hinchcliffe, and Kevin Lee, alongside an IndyCar branded with the “Be Best” and Fostering the Future logos.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix holds particular significance as it is the first race on the National Mall, celebrating America’s 250th birthday. It will receive live TV coverage on FS1, FS2, and FOX, with streaming available on FOX One. Race cars will bear decals to show support for foster youth.

Melania Trump’s Fostering the Future initiative, established in 2021, aims to facilitate college access, housing, and resources for youth aging out of foster care. The program addresses the national challenge where less than 3% of former foster youths achieve a college degree. Melania Trump is confident this funding will help bridge this essential gap.
