Former President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Jennifer Balkcom, the new Republican candidate for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. Balkcom entered the race following the withdrawal of Trump-backed incumbent Rep. Chuck Edwards from the re-election campaign.
Trump shared his support via a Truth Social post, stating, “It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Jennifer Balkcom, who is running to represent the wonderful people of North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District!”

Earlier this year, Trump had endorsed Edwards for his re-election bid. Edwards secured victory in the March 3 Republican primary for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District. However, he announced his decision to end his re-election efforts on August 5.

Edwards’ withdrawal followed a censure recommendation in a report from the House Committee on Ethics. This report highlighted his unprofessional behavior toward two young female staffers.
The report detailed Edwards’ actions, including providing the staffers with lavish gifts, making comments on their appearance, inviting them to private dinners and vacations, and sending notes expressing affection. Despite Edwards’ insistence that his actions were not romantic advances, the pattern suggested otherwise.
Edwards made the announcement amid these findings, which potentially influenced his decision not to seek re-election.
