Recently, the trial included testimony from Latiesha Dukes, a mental health counselor linked to Clancy’s care. Dukes collaborated closely with psychiatric nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta. Dukes mentioned Clancy showed signs of anxiety, sleep deprivation, and suicidal thoughts.
Dukes identified Clancy’s issues as postpartum anxiety and recommended outpatient therapy, medication, and weekly sessions. Clancy reported suicidal thoughts on December 5, 2022, leading to a recommendation for partial hospitalization. Dukes later observed Clancy’s improvement in mood during a telehealth visit on December 19, 2022.
Police Testimony and Defense Strategy
Earlier, Sgt. Dan Lawlor of Massachusetts State Police testified. He was present when Clancy was hospitalized with injuries from a fall. He also monitored her transfer to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, later questioned Lawlor regarding restricted access to Clancy’s hospital room. Reddington argued that psychologist Paul Zeizel, allowed to meet Clancy by court order, was central to his defense narrative.
Reddington suggested investigators believed Zeizel influenced Clancy to claim she heard voices. Lawlor confirmed discussing such theories, admitting they were speculative.
Legal Outlook
The jury also heard from Rebecca Jollotta, who met with Clancy before the alleged crime. The trial, under Judge William Sullivan, is progressing as scheduled.
If convicted, Clancy faces possible life imprisonment. Alternatively, she could be committed to a psychiatric facility if found not criminally responsible.
