President Donald Trump hosted more than 120 Team USA Winter Olympians and Paralympians at the White House, celebrating their achievements at the Milano Cortina Games earlier in the year. The American athletes brought home an impressive 57 medals, including 12 golds, marking the most gold medals won by the U.S. in a single Winter Games. Team USA also secured the most medals outside North America, with a total of 33.

Trump recognized the remarkable accomplishments of American Paralympians, who won 24 medals from 72 athletes. Among these, the sled hockey team achieved its fifth consecutive gold medal, showcasing an outstanding dynasty in international sports. Trump praised their exceptional performance, stating, “Nobody’s ever done anything like it.”

The President highlighted the achievements of the men’s and women’s Olympic hockey teams, both of which defeated Canada in overtime. Trump had previously honored the men’s Olympic hockey team at his State of the Union address, where goaltender Connor Hellebuyck received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was presented with a Team USA varsity jacket and new shoes, symbols of the team’s outstanding performance.
