The community of Biddeford, Maine is reeling from the tragic death of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. A memorial was created to honor him on July 14, where he was celebrated as a dedicated father who was working tirelessly to provide a stable life for his daughter.
On July 11, Johan shared his love for his 3-year-old daughter on Facebook, posting photos and expressing his affection with the words, “I love you, my beautiful princess.” Tragically, just two days later, he was shot and killed by ICE agents during an attempted traffic stop.
Johan was remembered fondly as a man with numerous aspirations and dreams yet to be fulfilled. His sudden and violent passing has left many in disbelief and deep sorrow, highlighting the harsh realities faced by many immigrant families.
