MIAMI – WWE icon Hulk Hogan, also known as Terry Bollea, passed away last year from natural causes, as reported by Florida police. A comprehensive 72-page report from the Clearwater Police Department officially concluded the investigation into his death.
Hogan died on July 24 at the age of 71. The police report provides an in-depth review, including statements, medical records, surveillance footage, and a visual examination of the body. The report clearly states, “There has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural.” Investigators found no criminal activity surrounding his death.
At the time of his passing, Hogan was at home with his wife, Sky Daily Hogan, a home health aide, and an occupational therapist. When Hogan stopped breathing, his wife called 911, and all three performed CPR until emergency responders arrived. Family members informed investigators of Hogan’s ongoing health struggles, which included leukemia, an irregular heart rhythm, pneumonia, and kidney failure. Additionally, Hogan had experienced numerous hospitalizations and surgeries prior to his death.
Initial statements from the occupational therapist suggested a possible link between a recent surgery affecting Hogan’s phrenic nerve and his death. However, these comments were later retracted as the therapist clarified being unsettled after performing CPR.
The local medical examiner determined the cause of death as a heart attack, opting not to conduct a full autopsy. A private autopsy commissioned by Hogan’s family supported this finding, noting no evidence of trauma or toxicological issues.
Hulk Hogan held a prominent position in wrestling history and was a significant figure in WWE. He headlined the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985 and remained a pivotal character for years, competing against stars like Andre The Giant, Randy Savage, The Rock, and even Vince McMahon, WWE’s co-founder. Hogan won at least six WWE championships and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005, reinstated in 2018 after a temporary removal due to an incident involving racial slurs.
His passing was marked by a private yet well-attended funeral service in Largo, Florida, held weeks after his death.
