Will Ospreay Triumphs at AEW Double or Nothing

Will Ospreay realized a significant milestone in his wrestling career during the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Double or Nothing event in New York. Competing in the first round of the Owen Hart Men’s Tournament, Ospreay faced off against Samoa Joe. The tournament winner will earn an opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship at AEW’s major yearly event, All In, at Wembley Stadium, England.

Ospreay claimed victory over Samoa Joe in Queens, N.Y., on May 24, 2026. He surprised his opponent with his signature move, the OsCutter, and after an intense contest, secured his win with several well-executed Hidden Blades. Following the match, Ospreay spoke about his aspirations to become the leading figure in AEW.

“I have confidence and belief that I can carry those three letters. The middle letter, ‘E,’ stands for elite. When people speak of elite pro wrestling, there’s no one superior. I feel it in my heart and soul,” Ospreay stated.

The wrestler emphasized his readiness to elevate AEW, noting, “This place’s motto is often repeated: ‘this is where the best wrestle.’ No, it’s where the ‘Billy Goat’ wrestles, and I’m prepared to claim the top position.”

Ospreay also shared how he had always dreamt of performing at Wembley Stadium during his youth, as his peers aspired to become soccer players. Overcoming a neck injury with support from the Death Riders, he returned to form, leading to his match against Joe.

Looking ahead, Ospreay is set to face either Mark Davis or Jack Perry in the tournament semifinals. In another part of the bracket, Swerve Strickland has advanced to face either Claudio Castagnoli or Brody King. The tournament final, the Owen Cup, will take place at Forbidden Door on June 28.
