Vincent Pastore, Actor Known for ‘The Sopranos,’ Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, renowned for his roles as mobsters, passed away at 80 years old. He was best known for portraying Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the acclaimed TV series, “The Sopranos.” His manager, Bob McGowan, shared that he learned of Pastore’s death from Vincent Curatola, another actor from the show. Pastore was found in his City Island home in New York after being unresponsive for a few days.

McGowan expressed admiration, stating, “He was the most loyal client and he always gave to charity, and he was the kind of guy who would help anybody, which is rare in my business.”

Pastore’s acting career began in the 1980s, with roles in notable films such as “Goodfellas” and “Awakenings” in 1990. His character in “The Sopranos,” Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero, was memorable as Tony Soprano’s friend who turned informant for the FBI.

Born in the Bronx, Pastore grew up in New Rochelle, New York. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and later pursued education at Pace University. He is survived by a daughter, Renee Pastore.
