Federal prosecutors in Texas have filed charges against a Venezuelan delivery driver. The individual was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent earlier in September. Court documents revealed these developments on Tuesday.
Prosecutors allege that Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, 28 years old, assaulted a federal officer. According to accusations, Garces Perez struck an ICE officer with his vehicle while attempting to flee from arrest.
The Department of Homeland Security reports that Garces Perez resides in the U.S. unlawfully. An immigration judge previously ordered him deported.
This situation remains under development. Updates will be provided as new information emerges.
