Usha Vance Discusses Motherhood and Family Life

In her first interview since giving birth to her fourth child, Usha Vance shared her experiences with Fox News Digital. Speaking on August 4, from the Vice President’s Residence, she discussed the joys and challenges of motherhood.

She expressed delight in witnessing her older children’s excitement over their new brother. They compete to hold him and help with tasks like diaper and clothing changes. Usha noted how their needs align well with those of their new sibling.

The birth of Alec Neel Vance was announced on Instagram on July 20. He was born on July 19, bringing joy to Usha, Vice President JD Vance, and their children Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. The couple expressed happiness in a family photo taken on July 22 by White House Photographer Emily Higgins.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

In her interview, Mrs. Vance highlighted the importance of spending individual time with each child. She shared how daily outings became a tradition since returning from the hospital. On one such outing, she spent a day with her middle child visiting a bookstore and having lunch.

She acknowledged potential challenges but believes her children are thriving with the new arrival. Usha recounted her initial worries about expanding the family, fearing it might disrupt their dynamics. However, she is grateful for the joy the new addition has brought.

Her podcast, “Storytime with the Second Lady,” continues to grow. The latest episode features Jackie Oshry reading her children’s book. The podcast aims to inspire children not only to read but also imagine and create their own stories.

As second lady, Usha chose to focus on literacy due to her passion for reading. She seeks to instill a love of reading in children across America. Her initiatives include encouraging participation in the White House Summer Reading Challenge, where children can win prizes, including a White House visit, by reading 12 books by the end of August.

Preparing for the new school year, the Vance family gathers supplies and organizes clothes. They make back-to-school preparations a celebration to avoid any stress as the academic year begins.

President Donald Trump congratulated the Vance family on their new addition in a Truth Social post. The post included a photo of the newborn with some of the older children.
