A United Airlines flight scheduled for Minneapolis encountered a disruption on Friday night, requiring a diversion to Wisconsin to address a security issue involving an unruly passenger.
According to an airline spokesperson, United flight 2005, traveling from Chicago to Minneapolis, landed safely in Madison, Wisconsin, to manage the situation. Carrie Springer, a spokeswoman for the Dane County Regional Airport, stated that law enforcement officials on the flight quickly restrained the passenger.
Upon landing, deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office boarded the aircraft and removed the unruly individual. The investigation is now in the hands of federal authorities.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, was carrying 147 passengers and six crew members at the time. The airline confirmed that there were no reported injuries. After resolving the incident, the flight resumed its course and successfully reached Minneapolis early Saturday morning.
