Claude Guillemot, co-founder of Ubisoft SA and president of the Guillemot Foundation, tragically lost his life in a plane crash on the Atlantic coast of western France. The accident occurred on Friday evening, just before the Cessna aircraft he was on was set to land at La Baule Airport.
The plane was carrying Guillemot and one other individual when it crashed in a field close to the airport. An official from La Baule Airport, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the accident details, noting both occupants were killed.
Ubisoft, globally known for its popular game franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Tom Clancy, was founded by Guillemot and his four brothers in 1986. A statement from Ubisoft acknowledged Guillemot’s passing but provided no additional details.
The loss of Claude Guillemot marks the end of an influential career, which had a significant impact on the gaming industry.
