Tyler Loop Aims to Improve in Second Season with Baltimore Ravens

Tyler Loop, picked in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens during the 2025 NFL Draft, faced the daunting task of stepping in for the legendary kicker Justin Tucker. Loop performed impressively in his rookie year. He successfully made 95.7 percent of his extra points and 88.2 percent of his field goals.

From within 39 yards, Loop was flawless, making all 21 field goal attempts. His long-range attempts were another story. Out of four field goal tries beyond 50 yards, only one—a 52-yard attempt—was successful.

On Wednesday, Ravens’ special teams coordinator, Anthony Levine Sr., noted Loop’s focus on improving long-range attempts in training camp. “We have the confidence in Tyler Loop to go out and make any kick from anywhere on the field,” Levine said. He mentioned Loop’s successful 57-yard, 53-yard, and 49-yard attempts during a session on Tuesday.

“Right now, we love where he’s at. Love his confidence, love him being consistent. As long as he keeps doing that, he’ll keep getting better,” Levine continued.

Despite a strong rookie season, Loop’s year ended on a disappointing note, missing a 44-yard attempt as time expired. This led to a 26-24 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18, eliminating the Ravens from playoff contention. The missed opportunity cost the Ravens a chance to win the AFC North and enter the playoffs.

Reflecting on the miss, Loop shared his eagerness to resume play and move beyond the setback. “We talk about having a one-minute rule,” Loop said. “Obviously, this one will be a little bit longer than a minute, because it is the last play of the season. It’s going to be one of those things that next time I get back out on the field to kick a ball, it’s time to move on.”

The Ravens remain confident in Loop’s ability to succeed with long-distance kicks, provided he maintains consistency during the preseason. Loop’s training camp progress suggests he is on the right path to overcoming last season’s challenges.
