Trump’s New Hearing on East Potomac Park Redevelopment Plan

8 minutes ago 0

A federal judge has ordered a new hearing concerning President Trump’s plans to redevelop East Potomac Park. This decision follows Trump’s social media post where he declared his intention to proceed with his redevelopment efforts despite a previous ruling against it.

Judge’s Preliminary Injunction

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes had granted a preliminary injunction requested by preservationists and local golfers in D.C. They urged the court to halt the project. However, Trump criticized the judge, stating his intentions to close the East Potomac Golf Course Site as planned on November 15. He claimed Judge Reyes lacked constitutional authority to ask for notifications that he deemed cumbersome and unconstitutional.

Upcoming Hearing

Judge Reyes has scheduled another hearing in response to Trump’s defiance of her ruling. It will take place either on Friday or Monday. Trump continued to condemn Reyes, criticizing her opposition to his plan. He argued that the East Potomac Golf Links are dangerous to play, and a revamp is essential.

Judge Reyes’s decision came after Trump’s public statement contradicted testimony from Department of Justice lawyers, who had said they were unaware of plans for tree removal prior to the project’s commencement.
