President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night in Wasilla that he pardoned two Alaska diesel mechanics during a midterm rally. The men, brought onstage, signed clemency documents as Trump spotlighted significant energy investments in the region.
The pardoned individuals, Zachary Czubak and Patrick Fleming, co-own a diesel repair shop in Anchorage. They had pled guilty in 2022 to conspiracy related to the violation of the Clean Air Act.
During the rally, Trump stated, “I’m giving each one of the three an unconditional pardon,” referring to a previous pardon for Mackenzie “Mac” Spurlock, another diesel shop owner in Wasilla.
Trump highlighted the benefits of their work in Alaska’s extreme conditions and criticized the Biden administration’s prosecutions as unfair.
According to the Department of Justice, Czubak and Fleming were part of a trio that admitted to altering emissions-control equipment on diesel vehicles from July 2019 to September 2020.
The shop earned roughly $100,000 from these modifications. Trump criticized former President Joe Biden by jesting about Biden’s autopen usage, commenting, “So I’m going to sign this now, something Joe Biden would be unable to do.”
Trump expressed his enjoyment of granting pardons. One of the pardoned mechanics thanked Trump, discussing the personal toll of the legal proceedings. “It really did destroy us. It destroyed friendships. It destroyed families,” he said.
During the rally, Trump also announced that an 800-mile natural gas pipeline in Alaska had received all essential federal permits. “Every single permit that you need, you can start tonight,” Trump assured attendees.
Fox News Digital requested more information from the White House concerning the project’s federal permits. Jasmine Baehr, a breaking news writer for Fox News Digital, reports on politics, military affairs, and cultural issues.
