Tragic Incident Claims Five Lives in Ohio River

Authorities in Ohio have confirmed the deaths of five individuals in a tragic incident on the Scioto River in Powell. The group had gathered near the river when one member attempted to swim and encountered difficulties.

A child, frightened and spotted by a motorist, was seen running along a nearby road. This prompted the 911 call, according to Delaware County Sheriff Jeffrey Balzer, who spoke at a news conference on Monday.

As others from the group entered the water to assist, they too faced challenges. Rescue teams commenced their search on Sunday and discovered two women, who unfortunately passed away at a hospital. On Monday, the bodies of three men were located in the river, as per Tracy Whited, spokesperson for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department.
