A Phillies supporter had a challenging night during his team’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. Donned in a Kelly green Eagles jersey, he was positioned in the outfield and experienced a series of near-misses with home run balls.
The first ball he attempted to catch was initially trapped by the fan in front who used his hat for assistance. This hat, with the ball inside, slipped from the front fan’s grasp, and the Eagles jersey-clad fan seized the opportunity to grab it from the air.
“The fan looked for his hat, then appeared to start a heated confrontation over the ball, almost assuredly claiming that he had been the one to catch and thus was its rightful owner.”
Faced with a decision, the Eagles fan chose to hand over the ball.
A Case of Bad Luck
Later in the game, luck seemed to favor the same Eagles fan when another home run ball came his way. He timed his jump well, but despite the ball hitting both hands, he lost grip and could not retrieve it before other fans did.
Disappointed, he clapped his hands, visibly frustrated at his misfortune. An usher offered a sympathetic shrug, conveying understanding yet stating there’s little one can do in such situations.
The fan may have missed his chance to capture two home run balls, but the Phillies secured a win with a 10-7 score.
