Five weeks into the season, the Tennessee Titans’ performance has forced an apology from the team’s CEO, Burke Nihill. The Titans are struggling with a 0-5 record, leading to frustration among fans. Exercising his role to speak for controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, Nihill acknowledged the team’s shortcomings.
Nihill spoke to ESPN, stating, The first thing I would say back to the fans is … we’re sorry. There’s nobody in this building that doesn’t feel … a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we’ve let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun.
New Titans quarterback Cam Ward leaves the field following a game against the Houston Texans in Nashville.
Nihill emphasized the need for improvement on the field, noting, We’re 0-5, and that’s not nearly good enough. It hasn’t been for a while.
The hiring of head coach Robert Saleh in the offseason and the involvement of general manager Mike Borgonzi were efforts to improve the franchise. Despite the potential seen with 2025 No. 1 pick Cam Ward, the Titans’ offensive results have been disappointing. Leading the league’s lowest scoring average at 11.6 points per game, the offense struggles even as the defense allows 21.8 points per game.
Still, Nihill trusts the leadership team. I personally feel a sense of stability,
he said. Nihill expressed his belief in both Borgonzi and Saleh to turn around the team’s fortunes. The train is on the tracks. It just hasn’t picked up momentum, but it will.

In recent years, the franchise has faced constant changes and defeats, with only six wins since 2023. The team currently endures a seven-game losing streak, with staff changes being a staple since 2022.
Despite challenges, the Titans aim for a fresh start in their upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts, hoping to secure their first win of the season.
