Two women and a 9-year-old child, who vanished earlier this week while tubing on a Michigan river, were found safe on Friday afternoon. Michigan State Police reported their discovery by a K9 team and state conservation officers at 4:36 p.m., nearly a mile from a boat launch on the Muskegon River.

The authorities expressed relief at the positive outcome, stating, “This is the outcome everyone hoped for.” Although the relationship between the women, both aged 28, and the child remains unclear, there was no further information provided about their conditions or the circumstances surrounding their disappearance.

A police vehicle and boat were noted near the Muskegon River where the trio went missing. Law enforcement identified the location as roughly 11 miles southwest of another boat launch, where a car belonging to one of the women was found with a broken window. This discovery was made by the woman’s father, prompting him to alert authorities after the group had been out of contact for over 24 hours.

On Thursday, police reported finding two of their tubes and footprints in the area. Nearly two dozen state police posts, various law enforcement agencies, and government departments contributed to the search efforts, with volunteers also playing a crucial role in locating the missing individuals.
