Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots are increasingly being used in healthcare, despite their disclaimers stating they cannot provide medical advice or diagnoses. These chatbots still receive millions of inquiries from users who are unwell, seeking to interpret medical records, or looking to understand their treatment options.
A recent survey by KFF, a nonpartisan organization focused on health policy and education, revealed that nearly one in three Americans have sought health information from these bots. The widespread adoption is attributed to considerations such as cost and speed. However, users must discern what information to trust and what to question when using AI for healthcare needs.
